🐦 About Our Quail:

Our quails are raised on our peaceful homestead with attention to health, space, and nutrition. We keep a balanced ratio of males to females to ensure high fertility and strong genetics. These birds are a great choice for first-time hatchers and experienced keepers alike.

Celadon Quails – Characteristics

• Friendly, calm and ideal for both beginners and experienced keepers.
• Excellent layers, often producing 250–300 eggs per year.
• Egg colour ranges from pale sky-blue to deep turquoise, depending on the line.
• They reach maturity quickly, often laying by 6–8 weeks of age.
• Perfect for small gardens, hobby farms and anyone who loves a touch of colour in their egg basket.

• Chicks that hatch from Celadon eggs look the same as ordinary coturnix; the egg colour trait only shows once females begin laying.
• Because the gene is recessive, not every chick will lay blue eggs unless both parents carry the Celadon gene. When both do, most pullets will produce blue eggs once mature.

About Celadon Quails – History & Key Facts

Celadon quails belong to the coturnix family, but they carry a rare genetic trait that gives their eggs a naturally blue or blue-green shell. This colour comes from a unique recessive gene, sometimes referred to as the Celadon gene or C-gene. When two Celadon carriers are paired, their offspring often continue this beautiful blue-laying line.

The Celadon trait first gained attention among hobby breeders in Asia and the USA, where selective breeding helped stabilise the line. Over the years it spread across Europe and the UK, becoming one of the most sought-after quail varieties for keepers who enjoy unusual or collectable egg colours. Despite the striking shell shade, the birds themselves grow and behave exactly like standard coturnix quails.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • While fertility is high at the farm, we cannot guarantee hatch rates due to postal handling and incubation variables beyond our control.

  • Please ensure you have an incubator ready or broody hen before ordering.

  • Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer refunds on hatching eggs. This is simply because so many factors are outside our control once the eggs leave us — including postal handling, the incubation set-up being used, and the buyer’s experience with maintaining the correct temperature and humidity.

If you ever have any questions or feel unsure about any part of the hatching process, please do get in touch. I’m always happy to guide you through it and help you achieve the best hatch possible.
